Gafsa Phosphate Compagny (CPG) has announced the exportation of 35000 tons of phosphate to a Peruvian customer. This deal is part of CPG’s plan for 2023 aimed at looking for new markets so as to hit a 450000-ton exportation target.
The production target is equally ambitious as the company is aiming to produce 5.6 million tons- which would be a significant increase compared to the average of 3.5 million tons registered during the last decade.
By mid- Mai 2023, Tunisia had exported 70000 tons of phosphate, almost hitting the 2022 figure of 90000 tons of exports to Europe alone.
These figures give the managers a reason to show much optimism and confidence as to the 2023 prospects. The Indonesian market is expected to import 40000 tons of Tunisian phosphate this year, for the first time since exports to this market were interrupted in 2010, which constitutes a major step on the road of recovery for this Tunisian industry.
