New photovoltaic power plant in Sidi Bouzid is the beginning of Tunisia’s energy revolution
A new photovoltaic power plant has come into operation in Meknassi, Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia. Built by the Tunisian company EPPM over an area of 17 hectares, the new power plant is the fruit of a 100% Tunisian work and expertise.
The 30000 photovoltaic panels in this plant are expected to produce 10 megawatt of electricity daily. This project is very important for Tunisia’s future due to its potential to contribute to the country’s energetic independence if replicated in other sites.
Besides reducing energetic dependence on foreign countries, such projects promise to offer cleaner sources of energy than the traditional ones.
A sunny country with a significant human capital of engineers, skilled workers, and experts, Tunisia has the potential to become a leader in renewable energies in the MENA region if it invests in its sunny weather.
