With pharmaceutical products marketed in Europe and the Gulf, Tunisia’s Unimed is a unique success story
The Tunisian company Unimed, which specializes in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products, sets the example of a company that honors the name of the North African country at the international level, and thus, it confirms with its success that Tunisia is teeming with skilled workers.
Unimed medicines are now marketed in the countries of the European Union and the Arab Gulf, after having been subjected to in-depth audits. This company, 100% run by Tunisian executives, has become one of the largest African exporters of pharmaceutical products, exporting nearly 70% of its production, which reflects the trust it has garnered in many countries that impose strict norms regarding the safety and quality of medicines.
Moreover, Unimed is the only African company to have obtained the confidence of the Japanese, in particular GCUBE, who chose it as their African partner for the manufacture of tests for bacterial diseases. Soon, the first factory of its kind in Africa in this field will be inaugurated in Sousse.
At the beginning of the 90s, Unimed was a small production laboratory, but thanks to hard work, today it is a company that manages six factories with 18 production lines and employs about 1000 workers, including more than 300 managers, doctors, pharmacists and engineers.
Unimed is the only Tunisian company to have voluntarily contributed to the construction of the bacterial disease laboratory at the Farhat Hached hospital in Sousse, the only one of its kind in the African continent.
